Buckminster Fuller's Jitterbug is a transformer links of which rotate about octahedral symmetry axes. the eight links can be connected via twelve plane angle-preserving double rotary joints. The Jitterbug is a brilliant discovery and a source of inspration for deployable structures. You may use the keywords "vector equilibrium" to search and learn more about Fuller's Jitterbug. See http://www.me.metu.edu.tr/kiper/Polyhedra/Introduction.htm for more about these polyhedral linkages and some polyhedra history...

  • Hello, my name is Michael sorg. I'm a musician and composer, and I'm fascinated with the truncated cube as it relates to musical energy. (12 vertices, various shapes, which represent chords. Would you consider letting me use this animation on my web site? Though some things will be sold on the site, the animation would not be associated with sales.

    Thank you! Michael Sorg

    Hi Michael,

I am deeply sorry for the late reply. You are welcome to use the animation. Please refer to Buckminster Fuller, for he is the inventor of this motion.
