NFS Shift 2: Ford Escort RS Cosworth - Time Attack (Finished 1st)

Oldschool... That's the only word i can use to describe this car. I have always loved the Cosworth right down to the 4x4 Sierra Sapphire and older generation rally kings.

Simply put, Ford knew exactly what engineering was all about hence why in most rally championships, drivers opted for the Escort Cozzie due to its brutal track presence, even still today.

Bought from stock, i tried this car out on its original setup and it handled like a dream, now the developers said this was real racing? they aren't kidding lol the standard gear ratio on the Cosworth is very much like real life.

Meaning the gears are too short to compensate for more engine strength, so it baffles me why they didn't add gearbox upgrades as a 6th gear as this would do this car so much justice its unreal.

I have spent a large amount of time in the tuning section playing with gear ratios and i haven't yet come up with a solution to reduce bottoming out , which means the engine reaches the peek of a gear, realizes it has nothing left to give, over revs then changes.

So i resorted to using semi automatic controls, i can change gear at anytime even if automatic gear selection is enabled, great news for me because i can 'double clutch' when and if i need too, at 03:28 is a perfect example.

At that point i knew 3rd gear had more to give before bottoming out so when the gear changed i just downshifted quickly, floored it until the peek of the rev range and then shift manually, it works well if you need a bit more acceleration around a corner.

I do sometimes use manual controls, but i prefer to use semi auto, personal preference =)

Even though i have setup this car by hours of playing with the settings, she can still throw me of guard as you will see in one part of the video, i momentarily lost control and quickly recovered... almost cost me the race lol
