This is a time lapse video of sky South East of my house, shot on the morning of November 26th 2011, from about 12:00am to 4:30am.

Kind of puts things into perspective when you see the sky moving that fast and you realize it is not the sky, it is us that is moving!

I used a Nikon D7000 with a 18 - 200mm lens set to 18mm. ISO was 1000 with 10s exposes every 15s. I also used a VELLO ShutterBoss to run the shots so I could get some sleep.

If you look closely you can see some planes, cars, a Meteor and some unexplained lights.

I look forward to you comments and any suggestions on how I might do this better.

  • that is excellent work.what are we going at round the sun? 62000mph.just shows how vast space is if it takes a year at that speed

  • @terawattz - Speed around the Sun, the Suns speed around the Milky Way Galax, The Galaxy within the local group.... so on and so on!

  • @XxXtOxIcSnIpErZXxX - that is a still of the meteor I caught during the time lapse... You can see it in video part at about 00:43.
