My April 1999 contribution to the demoscene, masquerading as a final year Acadia University project.

software:
- MSVC++ 5.0
- 3Dfx GLIDE v2.x SDK

hardware:
- AMD-K6 200MHz CPU
- 8MB 3Dfx Voodoo 2

It was coded in two weeks, and only used 3Dfx Voodoo 1 features and 2MB of texture memory.

History: The AMD-K6 200MHz processors ran Quake slower than Intel Pentium 133MHz processors, due to slow floating point units. Keep in mind Quake was optimized for Pentiums.

The music was by Jussi-Matti Salmela, better known as Elwood. The track is titled "Sick on Monday": Elw-sick.xm

Download (and play on a non-3Dfx card) the original demo:
http://xona.com/tbc/

(This low-quality YouTube video version was video taped handheld on a Canon PowerShot A430 digital camera, off my NEC MultiSync FP1350X 21" monitor. Clearer music added with Winamp playback of Elw-sick.xm and video editing.)

Saw Tooth Distortion is now known as Xona.com.

  • Just downloaded and watched with my Voodoo 1... Great litttle demo, I can record directly from the hardware (And have uploaded several demos recorded this way) would you mind if I did this with yours? If you want I could send you a recording and you could upload it instead, this demo deserves better than recording off the screen with a camera.

  • @HighTreason610 Wow you have a Voodoo1 setup! That's awesome! This is actually a Voodoo 2 demo, even though it doesn't use any non-Voodoo 1 features such as multi-texturing (dual textures), but it might run slower on the Voodoo 1 too. Did it skip frames? Please do record it and send it to me, and I'll upload it, or you can too! Awesome, thanks so much! Hit me up at my email off xona games contact page (google "xona games").

  • Nice demo and great music from Elwood! :)

  • @paulofalca0 thank you!!
