Judith Leiber was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, where she studied the craft of handbag making during the second world war. After the end of World War 2, Judith got to know and married Gerson Leiber, a U.S. GI stationed in Budapest. In 1947 the young couple immigrated to the US and after much time of employment for various New York purse manufacturing businesses, Mrs. Leiber set up the Judith Leiber Company in 1963.
Since then, the corporation has made world-renowned evening bags, purses, handbags and accessories. The bags are included in the permanent collections of museums world wide. Even though Mrs. Leiber retired in 1998, her tremendous impression on handbag fashion keeps on. Alot of the prototypal designs are traded to this day.
