Contemporary Christianity is a huge departure from the very scriptures they try to exemplify. The crux of the problem is the bible itself being incompatible with the warm fuzzy focus of modern Contemporary Christian motivation.

I would agree with you, some of the time... the focus of Christianity shouldn't be warm fuzzies, and that isn't what Jesus taught. But not all Christians act the same way; don't paint with too broad of a brush.
