The word "heresy" comes from the Koine Greek "hairesis" meaning either "a choice of beliefs" or "a faction of believers", or "a school of thought". Heresy is nothing more than any nonconformist view within any field by others within that field who are convinced that their view is "orthodox" or "correct". Perhaps you might not of known this, but Christians were labelled heretics by the Romans and the Jews. Even within Christianity, Catholics have called Protestants heretics, and vice versa.

Its not that they are all correct in their details or that there isn't a truth--its about having the humility to understand that we, as humans, don't know everything and don't really know the whole truth. Its for this reason that we learn from each other even though we have pretty diverse beliefs. I am a christian UU but just two weeks ago I got something really cool out of a buddhist UU who is a member of my church give a sermon. PM me if you have questions--I'd be happy to answer!
