http://www.smokinghotcigarchick.com Is it any wonder why we love food, wine, and cigars so much? There are flavors and textures that just make us happy- whether they remind us of our childhood, unique time in history, a special event, or even mark the start of a new moment to be remembered. They make us happy, comfortable, and represent the enjoyment of life.

It's the details that make the great impacts on us, too. And when it comes to wine and cigars, the goal is to have a happy and flavor rich experience. We use many of the same senses when it comes to tasting- and no surprise is that our preferred profile of food and wine also translates into the world of cigars. If you find yourself liking rich complex foods and wines, you most likely also enjoy full-bodied cigars that are rich and complex in flavor. If you enjoy the delicate notes of a sauvignon blanc with fresh seafood, then you may appreciate the subtle and wonderful notes of a mild and smooth cigar. Spicy, earthy, chocolaty, sweet, salty, coffee- there are so many flavors and styles to meet our personality and tasting preferences.

If you are new to cigars, consider what you you love in food and wine and seek that in a cigar. Once you've found the flavors that excite you, then you can begin to explore other styles with greater appreciation.

  • The pattern:

    1) bites of a mild cheese, such as gouda (I enjoy eating cheese on a cracker; I recommend delser (yes, small D!) brand crackers, which have olive oil and rosemary)

    2) regular sips of wine

    3) puffs from your cigar of the night

Try it! You will find that neither the cheese nor the cigar overwhelms the other. On the contrary, I usually end up wanting the next element in the pattern about 1.3 seconds after the one I am enjoying at the moment!

Thanks for all the great clips, Teresa!

  • Cheese... oh I love cheese, and yes it is very much a perfect partner to wine. I've tried chocolate and almonds with scotch and a cigar, but never really considered or played around with a cheese pairing. Love the idea, thank you. This is something I will have to explore!

    xx

  • I like to make my own wine, Malbec, Port, cab, pinot noir, they go sooo well with a good cigar, not to mention a good scotch whiskey, but it's hard to let the wine age for a year (min) or more before tapping, too tempting to drink young.

  • A beautiful combination, indeed. And tempting I would imagine yes, but the patience pays off with a great story and wine to enjoy! What a great experience :)

  • Cobmine a 10 year old tawny port with a Padron and you're in heaven...

  • couldn't agree with you more, yes- perfect!

  • Try nice dark chocolate with a good cigar ( I recommend a Romeo Y Julietta No.2). Very tasty! And if you like scotch, a glass of Highland Park 12yo.

  • Hubba, hubba!

  • What beautiful long hair, contrasted with silky glowing skin, sparkling honest eyes. Sorry, got a bit distracted for a moment! :^)

  • will u marry me

  • Of course, wine and cheese as a combination has been around so long that I feel nearly compelled to hyphenate between them, but unfortunately a lot of people say that cigars and cheese are not a good combination; that you should save the cigar for after the cheese. I have found, though, that by following a certain pattern, they enhance one another. (to be continued)

  • I love your tastes! :-)
