this is just showing one of the ways to fix a yugo sks. something i did not mention because it should be a given is that on yugos you need to have the gas valve switch set to semi auto which if you are looking down the sights would be set to the right not straight up. i good way to tell if you have it set correctly is if you cant raise your grenade ladder sight then its in the right spot.

  • It is a SKS 30 round mag and It was tight to install. I have cleaned it and oiled it up but it still has some feeding issues it will take the first 5 rounds fine but after that it jams and misfeeds badly. The feeding lips appear to be in good condition. I'm thinking its just a crappy mag, I think I will suck up my loss and buy a Tapco 20. Any thoughts before it becomes a paper weight? thanks for the reply!

  • @braggcrik1 no prob bro. yeh i would just toss it and get a tapco 20rd mag. the tapco mag just plain works and it goes towards your sks being 922r compliant if you live in the states. i think it is worth 2 or 3 points. now that i have changed the gas valve on my yugo i have to change everything else on it. but i was wanting to do that anyhow.

  • Any advice on a 5/30 round metal mag sticking and not allowing rounds to chamber properly? Thanks!

  • @braggcrik1 is your sks moded to take ak mags or is it a sks 30 round mag. either way it depends on the mag. there are a lot of crappy 30 round sks mags that is why i stick to a tapco 20. never an issue. but if are going to try to save the mag. learn what kind you have dismantle it clean it out. spray some rim oil. let it sit in warm heated room, wipe the oil off and reassemble. i hope this helps.oh and make sure your feeding lips are not bent.

  • I was thinking it was a promag, I had a problem with mine feeding and I spoke with a rep from there and he helprd me out. It weird, the 40 rounds are good but the 30s are bad.

  • @braggcrik1 i dont know why i didnt think about it before. i will be doing a video about checking your mag springs soon. you may want to check the mag spring it may have snapped or weakened. you may just need to get a new spring. it doesnt have to be from the same mag just something that is stong and fits. just find something made for a good name brand mag that is about the same length and width.

  • @rachee23 Unfortunately its just a regular run of the mill metal mag from down south, has USA stamped on it and thats about it.

  • @braggcrik1 Just curious what type of mag is it. If its a promag I might have a solution.

  • Gotcha, Well thanks for the help anyways. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
