This series of simulations created using NASA's FACET software shows the pattern of air traffic over the continental United States at various times, including Sept 11, 2001. It illustrates just how complex our air transportation system is and how challenging it is to make changes.

This series was created several years ago with the National Air & Space Museum and continues to play at the "Americay by Air" exhibit in the museum on the Mall.
