I've been asked to teach about the 4, 5, or 6 hole ocarina. We sometimes call these English or pendant ocarinas, because they were invented in England in the 1960's and are often made to be worn as pendants.
The methods I have demonstrated in the other lessons will work for these ocarinas too, but a different sequence of fingerings is used to make the notes of the scale.
Start by covering all the holes.
Here is how to play an octave, by lifting the fingers in this order. Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do+.
With a five or six hole ocarina, you can play one or two more high notes by lifting the left and right thumb, respectively, for Re+ and Mi+.
With these fingerings you can now play some of the songs that I have shown in the lessons for 10 and 12 hole ocarina.
Now we will play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."
Do-Do-Sol-Sol-La-La-Sol
Fa-Fa-Mi-Mi-Re-Re-Do
Sol-Sol-Fa-Fa-Mi-Mi-Re
Sol-Sol-Sol-Fa-Mi-Mi-Re
Do-Do-Sol-Sol-La-La-Sol
Fa-Fa-Mi-Mi-Re-Re-Do.
