This is the greatest live album ever. That's why I bought it last year and must have played it 50 times so far. When guitar, violin, keyboads and drums are played at lightning speed constantly, and considering the album came out in 1973... how in the WORLD do more people not know about this album? This should be like the most groundbreaking album ever for its speed and intensity! The Mahavishnu Orchestra rules forever!

Have you ever made love to two busty women at once, and was driven to one super-intense group orgasm? That's this album in a nutshell, and this track is better than a quickie.
Thanks for posting this track (and sorry for the sex terms...)

I discovered Mahavishnu Orchestra with this album. I used to go to Tower Records Piccadilly until I found every album of the band and those by John McLaughlin (70 yo in a month). Beautiful, thanks.
(*) and a few by Billy Cobham...

Intemporel ... Thanks :D

One of my friends decided to name his future daughter Andrea after literally devouring this song - and album - at my place. His daughter was born 14 years later. Her name: Andrea. This is THAT kind of music.

A lot of great comments on this thread. Please ....every one......keep in mind that this is a live recording from 1973. As in 35 freaking years ago when technology and sound dynamics were no where near what they are today. Again.....This is live...no studio mixing or computer enhancement. You are hearing pure, raw music of very high technical level. This was as inovative and avante garde as it got back in 1973. Plus......on a less technical note..........McLaughlin flat out shreds !!!!!

The first time I played Between Nothing and Eternity was 3 years ago and a religious thing I have fell on the floor. I like to pretend the reason for this is because the level of intensity is so high during this performance that I literally shook heaven itself!
1:27 until 3:53 best improv solo I've ever heard

@Sebastos1 I can't say im a fan of that one...IMO its the worst solo on this song BY FAR. I know its completely freestyle, no backing music so its harder, and i love McLaughlin, but sometimes that solo just sounds like randomness...although i do detect some exotic flavor in it. Maybe its too "outside" for me??? I thought that Jan and Jerry were just pure fire though.

For a 3 song album its FANTASTIC, for an album in general its EXTREMELY solid. This song also has Jerry and Jan's best work IMO.
