Track 8.

Slavestate EP (1991):

Two years after the breakthrough album Streetcleaner, the band released a 4 song ep titled Slavestate. This ended up being released in 3 different formats, the 4 song ep, a 3 song remix ep and a 9 song mini lp. Originally it was supposed to be released as 2 separate ep's on cd, but Earache didn't go for that. Listed below is the 9 track mini lp. The other releases are in the EP section. Best known for the Techno influenced sound, a large number of Godflesh fans were disappointed. The band's fan base was dramatically changed due to this record.

Lyrics:
Your blood on my hands, Your blood on my hands
Grey machines, Dying ocean

Slateman

With your hand on my heart, I need air
With your hand on my heart, I'll still survive

Slateman

--Repeat first verse:

  • Phenomenal song by a tremendous, underrated band.

  • i find this to be a creepy song - had it on an earache cassette sampler when i was a teenager, i don't think it has lost anything over the years - sounds as great now as it did then

  • @jwmchon

This is not Death Metal in any shape or form.

  • @gaspanda What's your name, name, name, name. Tell me your name, name, name, name.

  • @jwmchon In flies Willie, the kid with Down syndrome!

  • Best Death metal song Ever!!! So ahead of time it still sounds like nothing and original. I don't think you will find anything like this ever in the future either. Just a note, I'm not a headbanger either

  • @gaspanda i had that same sampler. with morbid angel, napalm death, bolt thrower, erm...and two others on it. shaped my ears that cassette did. from a metal hammer 'thrash special' if i remember right? glad someone else remembers that great little sampler! :)

without it, i would never have heard this beauty, which is one of my all time faves

  • i always thought that this was a better album than streetcleaner..

  • absolute genius gold. thanx, DrGonz!

  • @kangeroobru I have that earache sampler too!!!

  • Got this on a 7", weirdly with a massive hole in the middle so it can be played on a jukebox.

Wonder if it got a lot of plays?
