@thespearheadveteran - I was not there, nor where you. It is impossible to say with 100% certainty what took this down, but if it was a missile, a SA-7B is the most likely candidate. Another possibillty is a Mossad planted bomb that would explode at a altitude that assured all would die. It was a targeted hit. Someone wanted that bird to go down hard. Given no other helos have been reported blown out of the sky ( by the big bad Taliban) this year, it looks more and more like an inside job.

@thespearheadveteran - If the helo was shot down, it was not taken out by an RPG. I am guessing a SA-7B GRAIL, a portable shoulder-fired, low-altitude SAM system,

with a high explosive warhead,passive infrared homing guidance system and equipped with a propellant charge to increase range and speed. Dimisssed corporal.

@390bullitt1968 What the hell do you know about maxium effective range of any type of weapon when you admitted you never served in the military? I'm a Desert Storm veteran,served PROUDLY with 23rd combat engineer Bn...i"m an expert with any type of weapons.you are clearly not.

@rbrjb1959 - Marfans syndrome has no cure and those who suffer from the disease die an early death. Not any chance Bin Laden lived to be 53. Marfans syndrome attacks all major organs at once and victims typically die early deaths from organ failure. Few would live past 40. OBL was on a dialysis machine in 2001, but it is extremely likely he had many other medical problems. I suspect Osama's brother or second in command was killed in the raid.

@nyyanksny03 - RPG are effective within a 500 foot range. I think this was a SAM-7 missile and the intell was clearly leaked.  With Israeli advisors embedded into every unit, I would start there. But get real, If the USS Liberty was not investigated, you can kick this one to the curb as well.

Invading and assassinating unarmed men and women is the Only issue. Lucky there were no armed persons defending the compound, incompetent pilot and flawed equipment flawed politics.

wait a minute....seal team 6? the same seal team 6 that carried out the "Bin Laden" raid, (which we all know was phoney) and they were all killed in a helicopter crash and there are no witne....survivors, hmm i don't think we'll need Sherlock Holmes with this one.

Any military aircraft over Afganistan is automatic target for a shoulder fired rocket.

Taliban have no aircraft.
