QUT Journalism Students News Bulletin - April 13, 2010

Salvage operators have successfully refloated the Chinese coal carrier on the Great Barrier Reef, without spilling any extra oil. The operation comes nine days after the Shen Neng 1 hit the reef and spread more than two tonnes of oil into Queenslands pristine waters.

Health Minister Paul Lucas has come under fire in Parliament for his handling of the recent nurses pay blunder. The Opposition also called for thestate government to repay the Nurses Union for its donation in the lead up to last years election.

Meanwhile, the government revelealed a $60-million solar rebate scheme for the state.

V8 Supercar Champion Craig Lowndes has joined forces with Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson to warn Queenslanders about the dangers of speeding. The message follows a collision near Gatton which killed a mother and her two sons.
