  • very interesting videos, but please tell us WHICH museum these engines are in.

  • @spentacle Click on the video owner - semidiesel - and details of the museum website are in the info section on the left.

  • Only problem in this video is that the sound comes only from left channel.

  • The camera is nearly as old as the engine and mono. Forgot to copy the audio channel when creating the vid.

New videos of all the museum engines in a month or so now we have a better camera.

  • what year is the engine?

  • 1938

  • good old technology. Works even after a nuclear blast.

  • So your basicly saying that 99% of the marine engines are oversized and can be made much smaller...

  • @tyb678 Actually there is one thing I want to point out...That is that this engine operates at 600rpms....Of course it won't have any trouble last for years...ANY engine will operate at 600rpms and last for years. I am pretty sure this engine would self destruct though if tried to run at 3,000 to 5,000RPMS like a smaller car engine, Its just the nature of its design.

  • @tyb678 Chill out I'm not trying to start a pissing match with anyone. Just pointing an intresting fact out.

  • @tyb678 Never did I claim that my 5.0L had more torque, and yes I know that torque is what makes an engine go round. I wasn't trying to say that my 5.0L could rip this old 3cyl diesel, the only thing I was trying to point out was how far technology has advanced, This engine weighs 8-tons and only makes 100hp...My 5.0L might weigh around 500 or 600lbs and makes 360hp. A moden diesel in a tractor trailer might weight 1,500lbs or so and they make 500hp and 1500+ lb/ft of torque.

  • @MercuryMorrison1 It's not the HP, its the TORQUE that gives it power. this engine would destroy your truck without a second thought. If you Ford 5.0L tried to power a generator at peak power, 24/7 it would be dead in days. This engine ran for years, no problem.

You can't beat old iron, period.

  • Amazing. This engine is the size of my truck 2011 F-150 5.0L. Yet the 5.0L in my F-150 makes almost 4 times as much power. How the times have changed...Cool engine though none the less.
