Pokemon: How to catch MEW (For Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green)

A slightly educational video on how to catch the Pokemon "Mew" in the games Red, Blue, Yellow, and even Green. Since there's no dialog in this video, the steps are listed below:

(First make sure you've just arrived at Cerulean City, and have beaten Gary, the bridge trainers and the rocket at the top, and the one Hiker. DO NOT beat the youngster with the level 17 slowpoke, or the trainer in the grass near the water to the left of the bridge.)

1. Catch an Abra (Assuming you've arrived at Cerulean City). You can find these just north of Cerulean City, in a small grassy patch as seen.

2. Head down towards the Pokemon center and quickly heal your Pokemon. Make sure Abra is in your group of Pokemon. Place an electric or grass at the front of your team.

3. Head on up past the trainer's bridge and turn left. Before walking down as shown, stop and SAVE the game.

4. Walk downward and quickly press the start button. Obviously on this first try, it didn't work. Thats why its always good to save first. If that happens, shut it off like in the video. Assuming you got it right, the start menu should pop up. Go to your Pokemon, and click on Abra. Use teleport.

5. After, the trainer should see you. But- its already too late. Mwahaha. =P You will teleport to the Pokemon center.

6. Now, try out your start button. It should have no effect. Head upwards yet again and turn to the right. Walk over towards the youngster thats facing upward. Don't walk directly up to him, since the game will freeze, and you'll have to start over from the part where you last saved. Walk a distance away so he'll walk over to YOU.

7. Battle his Slowpoke. Now, if you have an electric or grass, this should be easy. As soon as you've beaten him, your start button will be fully functional. ONLY TELEPORT down to the Pokemon center.

8. After teleporting, don't go inside the center YET. Head upwards for the last time. Right after you exit the city and the music changes, the start menu will pop up. DO NOT SAVE IT, or this will have been all for nothing. Exit the menu by pressing B only. You should see the battle sequence.

9. You will be attacked by a level 7 Mew. Try to bring a lot of Poke Balls. This isn't an easy catch. To make it faster, you can hold the A/B buttons while swirling the control stick.

10. After you've caught it, nickname it if you wish, and CONGRATULATIONS! You've caught a mew. You can train it with your other Pokemon. And remember- it can learn ANY attack. =3

No..unfourtunately, though it does work for all the original ones; Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green, and all the original japanese ones.

I have a different technique:

Don't battle the youngster, until later in the game. Go back to him. Take a step in front of him, but pause b4 u get into a battle. Fly to lavender town,and he'll try to battle you but you'll fly away. When u get to lavender town, start walking left. Level 4 mew will randomly attack you.

You can do this technique with other trainers besides the youngster with the slopoke, but it will be a different pokemon besides mew. It's a good technique for getting rare pokem

when I see this I'm thinking only 1 thing:WHY?why isn't my pokemon red working anymore?and why did my pokemon yellow fell down and broke?I remember me when I learned the glitch I started to transfer all my good pokemon from pokemon yellow to pokemon red so that I could play it from the beginning to catch mew!and after a year,it broke!then ,it got worse!my pokemon silver file was deleted!thank god after that a friend gave me a pokemon silver with a mew!!good days!!
