Series Producer Alastair Fothergill, composer George Fenton, blue whale specialist Bruce Mate and oceangoers Jessie Lane and Kit Rogers.
Out of the blue with Alastair Fothergill

p--------------------------
The Blue Planet, the definitive exploration of the Earth's final frontier is now over. From the deep to the shore, from pole to pole it revealed extraordinary life and behaviour that had never before been filmed. In some cases the species were only recently known to scientists.
One looks out on this very crowded world in which we live and it is very clear that the oceans - though they cover 70 per cent of the planet and are by far the largest habitat on Earth - really are the last frontier.

Sounds of the Deep
Five time Academy Award nominee, George Fenton, has composed the evocative soundtrack which accompanies this breathtaking series.

A passion for blue whales
Filming blue whales should be easy , but it's not. They are the largest animals, bar none, that have ever lived on our planet, but even to find one requires quite a bit of time and effort.

Out in the Open ocean
Kit Rogers and Jessie Lane run the 60ft sailing boat "Silurian" which was used as a floating filming platform to capture some of the images you've seen on The Blue Planet - most of their work was for programme three - Open Ocean.
