True, it had a great cast and the format was clever but the writing wasn't great. But the magic show bit was a gem.

@kristell9 Yeah, this was the best part of the pilot. I love Joel, but this show needed better writing than what he was able to get.

I thought Vick Lawston was being played here by Christopher Morris (Denholm from "The IT Crowd"), but looking it up, looks like it was Paul Feig. Now we all know the truth.

Vick Lawson is played by actor/comedian Paul Feig -- best know nowadays as a TV director ( Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, Arrested Development ) Also check out his books, "Kick Me" and "Superstud". Paul Feig ROCKS ! ( that's probably the only time that sentance has ever been used )
