""Yw-El" is the son of the head of the pantheon. This suggests that
"Yahweh" ("Yw") was originally El's son in pre-Israelite Canaan. It is usual for a younger god to eclipse the older gods in the development of religion.
In other words, just as Zeus eclipsed his father Cronus, Yahweh eclipsed his

  • whats really interesting is how much of these stories are in the bible but under El or YHWH's name, if slightly changed.

  • I just put a text into the details section for you that you may find interesting on this topic. It's about half way down the side.

  • @MetallicThor No Baal is the Son of EL. Look at the pantheon of the Canaanite Gods.

  • @garychldress74 You mean Baal...

  • @MetallicThor It came from canaan El was the chief deity of the canaanites look at any canaanite history. in the oxford dictionary

  • @garychldress74 I think most of you are mistaken, El just means God and refers to Yahweh. Yahweh throughout the bible is being called with different titles such as Elyon, Shaddai, Adonai and Roi.

  • Yawh once served in the counsil of EL.

  • wayman29 , So the exodus From the Egypt under Moses never happened for the ancient Jews? very curios !!

  • thanks, one that I remember that was interesting is how you talk about mote defeating Baal, but the bible has El beating Mote, almost to show that El is more powerful then Mote.
