After nearly four years of dialogue with the FAA regarding pending safety regulations for model aviation, the 2012 AMA Expo featured an open discussion forum January 7 between AMA leadership, FAA representatives and AMA members on this subject. You are also encouraged to visit www.modelaircraft.org/gov to read about the latest developments and AMA's ongoing effort to protect and preserve model aviation.

  • How long before birds are going to be regulated in the national airspace? I am pretty sure they have landed more planes in the Hudson than model aircraft have. Leave us alone FAA!!!

  • Model airplanes have been around BEFORE the FAA exsisted, therefore I invoke the Grandfather claus and will continue to fly where and when I want too, tuff shit. Or, I'll just call it a UAV and camouflage it with a nice military paint scheme. Commercial UAV's will have more rights and airspace than there going to leave available for Model aviation.

  • @gundamnitpete : Re-read my post, thanks.

  • @ChrisTechTV Smoke and Mirrors. Just like Gun control.

  • Blah Blah Blah...Don't tread on me.

  • @kffive I don't think it is so much the AMA that it is the FAA. The FAA asked the AMA to come on board and help with the new rules. The AMA is just as against regulating model aircraft as we are. They are going up to bat for us. We just need to make sure that we stand up for our selves during the comment period.

  • @ChrisTechTV As a Life AMA member, I'm just about ready to tear my card up!

  • Regulation Nation . Tell the FAA to go pound sand . Again with the false flag lie .

  • @fa18chornet This is not the correct approach, you just join hands with all modelers and let the powers that be see that we will not take these regulations on our backs! We need all the help we can get!!!!
