This music segment was one of 17 "Dance of the Week" and "Brand New Song" segments originally shown on "The Archie Show" on CBS-TV on Saturday mornings in 1968, and repeated on the original hour-long format of "Archie's Funhouse" in 1970. The song, "Bang-Shang-A-Lang" was included on The Archies' first self-titled LP, released in 1968, and was also The Archies first single, also released in 1968 and reaching number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This version of the music segment has the CORRECT SPEED & PITCH. The current DVD releases of Filmation's Archie show material, released by Genius Products, have an inaccurate 4% increase in speed & pitch due to the conversion from NTSC to PAL format, and vice-versa. The speed and pitch have been corrected for this upload.

"The Archie Show" is currently owned by USA based Classic Media (formerly Entertainment Rights from the UK), which purchased the Filmation library from it's previous owner, Hallmark. "The Archie Show" and the 30-minute format of "Archie's Funhouse" (with some funhouse & side-show segments from "The Archie Comedy Hour" added as bonus material) are currently available in complete DVD boxsets from Genius Products.

"Archie" is owned and copyrighted by Archie Comic Publications.

  • does any one under 20 listen to these songs or am i the only one?

  • @andabreadwasmine From the messages I get, you are NOT the only one under 20 that listens to these. It's good music and fun to watch, so enjoy!

  • Been awhile bud, thanks for posting some nice new stuff.

  • @broot4u I didn't have a copy of the original version with the correct speed and pitch, and couldn't find anyone that did, so I had to hunt to find a program that would let me decrease the speed and pitch on the version that was on the DVD. Finally found a program that let me adjust the speed and pitch, and then capture the modified segment. And here it is. Enjoy buddy... have got one or two more to go. Might also re-upload some of the existing ones with ones that have cleaner video.

  • @windsorbear You're missed, buddy!

  • @broot4u I'm still around, just don't get on YouTube much anymore. Actually been hanging out mostly on FB. There is an Archies group on there and we chat quite a bit.

  • @bladeey Hey go on!!! I used to love Archie, a part of me still does. He is next to Dick Clark "America's Oldest Teenager". : - D

  • @windsorbear Well, you did a wonderful job! It's nice to see someone taking the time to make sure we all can enjoy one of the best, but sometimes forgotten and often underappreciated, pop/rock bands from the late-1960's/early-1970's, the Archies with perhaps the cutest looking keyboardist, Veronica Lodge and tambourinist Betty Cooper.

  • @LadyRoyce Glenn Miller rules!

  • ROTFLMFFTO! Well Luv, I am 55 this year & all of our tastes have changed since we were kids. But we still harken back to the music we loved when we were young. Bloody Hell! My Mum got a 6 record set of "Glenn Miller's" work from "Readers Digest" when I was about 11 or 12 & I LOVED THAT STUFF!

So to this day, I still love "Major, Glenn Miller's" music & I have several CDs of it & a load of it I downloaded from the net because I did not have some of the numbers he did on my CDs.

  • @broot4u ROTF, LMFFTO! That was a big problem with thise records. I got my teacher to give me a huge hunk of that sticky, rubber stuff that was the predasesor to "Fun Tack" to hold the record on the turntable and also had to put a couple of pennys on the tone arm to make it play right as well.

  • @windsorbear What's the nic. I only found one Archies group, and it's like a fan page more than anything.

  • @LadyRoyce I was mistake. It was a Bobby Sherman record. I just did some research and found the record.Sitting here listening to one of the tunes on YouTube...what the hell? LOL. Boy, has my taste changed.

  • @LadyRoyce Honestly, it was so long ago, it's hard to tell. I'm up in Canada, so the Andy Kim promo was likely geared to us, seeing he is a fellow Canadian. Now, I could be wrong, my memory isn't the greatest, but I was almost sure I had an Andy Kim tune on cardboard. I do remember that the record didn't play too well on my junky little record player, had to weigh down the needle to keep it from skipping, and put rocks in the middle of the record to keep it from sliding and slipping...LOL.

  • @broot4u HUMMMMM! I thought Post stopped at the "Jackson 5." But I did hear stories that they did three from the "5th Dimension" as well. Is there any truth to those stories?
