Until recently the idea of having a black president seemed unlikely.

Instead American popular culture was constantly bombarded with images of down-at-heel black men.

However, With Barack Obama being the presumptive Democratic nominee, is blackness being redefined in America?

I LOVE AlJazeera !!!!!!. I cant believe I bought the western propaganda that presented this amazing network as the mediatic right arm of Alqaida. Shame on me. I am from Africa, leaving in London and this is the least partisan and least Euro-centric news media outlet I have come across =)))

  • stupid topic: who is black enough and who is half black?

    get busy mr KHAN

  • So what bitch all african americans are halfrican americans dumbslut horny slavemasters raped all of our great grandmothers so we all are mixed which make us not 100% black/african

  • This fellow, Boyce Watkins, wants to know why Barack Obama wasn't called white. Does he need an new optometrist? Are his glasses working?

  • Barack Obama is a Half-rican American.

  • what is 'black' any way? since more than 25% of 'black' people have another racial heritage..that people dont realy want to aknowledge

  • Debra had better back-pedal. "Black-enough" is a very ignorant, useless concept. Her breaking down race to a paradigm shows her priorities. "Black" in the Presidency is irrelevant.

Obama was NOT FORCED to do anything. To insist that he was depicts him as a shill. IS he? I doubt it. Too many individuals of diverse backgrounds voted for him.

One of the most laughable things are "talking black"; getting good grades is white, etc, etc..

On another level: I thought the slip about "Ph-Dues" was cute.

  • who cares if he's black?! Can he run the country? That's what I wanna know...

  • Well as for myself being black I really wouldnt need NEGROES like Boyce Watkins or this other lady approving and vetting me or any other black person about being black enough. It just goes to show even without white racism you would still have the Watkins of this world waging conflicts within.

  • riz khan is DA MAN
