The economy of salvation implies that your account with that famous bank in heaven  counts for nothing, as long as there is inflation raging on earth. Inflation not only devalues your own account constantly, it also brings ruin to others. The very idea of the Community of Saints reads: Salvation is either achieved in community with others, or it is nothing ...

As long as one regards individual salvation as a sort of a deal, where you give your earthenly life for the purchase of heavenly glory, one might well miss the point. The idea of the church within the Trinitarian flow means something else: Loving your neighbour is not a "charitable work", it is participation in the very act of redemption. So if your God is redeeming love, how can you ever be satisfied with you being saved, as long as your neighbour isn't?
