When will people learn than when people have guns the society is much safer and the crime rate is virtually none!? Guns and the second amendment put the teeth to the rest of the constitution. They're the little white line that separates us from a Republic to complete fascism. If you open carry a long gun, or help transport a gun & ammo collection, then you should conceal carry a handgun, cocked and locked. Laws only matter when you get caught, and I'd prefer to discuss it with the DA, than be a customer of funeral arrangements.

@christopherg9 While being armed does not necessarily prevent the act, it most certainly deters the act in places where being armed is not only legal but rather embraced and cherished because assailants are far less likely to engage a target if there is even the slightest concern in their minds that their target may be armed with a firearm. It's a big difference confronting someone who may have a blunt object or combat skills versus someone with a gun.

The big world is not filled with good people. In a good world we wouldn't need to carry fire arms of any sorts. The reality is there are criminals who will do harm and the police sometimes cannot get there in time to save yours or my life. If any weapon or knowledge of defense can save your life, would you rather roll over and die or fight and at least if you die you didn't die like a hapless victim. Takes 1 second to kill someone/someone to kill you, 5 seconds to call 911.

Guns are used EVERYDAY to dissuade a criminal from committing a crime. The mere presents of the gun is a deterrent.
