Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-rZ2PIrOD8 for a much better version of this song.
Thanks to Iachod and Katie Martin for seeing the possibilities in it and doing such a gorgeous recording of this song.

I thought Isaiah 54, one of the most beautiful passages in all the Bible, should be set to music. This was what I came up with. The actual words from the bits of Isaiah 54 that I used are included on the video. Here's my lyrics:
Sing out, Lift your voice
To sing, not to mourn,
O you childless woman,
O you who have not borne.
Your descendants will be numberless,
Your children will be more,
Than the offspring of the woman
Who many children bore.

And your husband is your Maker,
The God of the all the earth.
Though men may have rejected you,
You've been given glorious worth.
Sing out, O you afflicted one,
O you by tempest tossed,
For He's building you a city
From gems of greatest cost.

For a moment, just a moment,
He turned away His face.
But forever and forever,
Though earth vanish without trace,
Even still will stand his mercy,
And His covenant of peace
And His everlasting kindness
To His servants will not cease.

He, Himself, shall teach their children,
And great their peace shall be.
This He says to His servants,
"Your righteousness is from Me."
And this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.
For this is His promise,
And this is His Word.
Yes, this is His Word.
Yes, this is His Word.

  • Isaiah 54 is God's promise to me ...wish I could share how it has been fulfilled in me...it is a long story...He is amazing in love and power!

  • @chrissgirlnow , I wish you could share that story, too. I'd love to hear it. The promises of Isa. 54 are very personal to me, too. As I think they should be to all the people of God.

  • You have a really nice voice. Thanks for singing. I'm going to paste this link on the Covenant Peoples Forum if you don't mind. It directly applies to the People of God ... the true Israelites of the Bible.

  • @EuroHebrew

Sorry I forgot to reply. It's fine to pass this song on wherever you would like to.

  • Praise the Lord. This song was nourishing to my soul. What was your

    inspiration for its production?

  • @Law144000 ,
