This film documents conservation efforts at two locations in urban downtown Chicago. The McCormick Bird Sanctuary and Canal Origins Park, among others, have been chosen by the Chicago Park District to be converted to prairie habitats. Geoff Morris, the CPD steward for these sites, briefly explains the origins of the parks and what is being done to convert them to habitats suitable for migratory birds. Filmed during a volunteer work-day at the bird sanctuary, community efforts to improve the areas are highlighted, and some of the species inhabiting the parks are exhibited. This film presents prairie recreation and restoration to a general audience and serves to encourage new participants as stewards and volunteers.
