you've got to understand that there are multiple types of hacking... there's the "omg i modified my grades and get to go to harvard" then the "omg i haxed the presidents email and get to go to guantanamo bay for the rest of my life" then there's hardware hackers. people who modify every day electronics to do unusual things. which is exactly what this guy does.

how so? just because its not sending ping o' death to some ricebox out on the net doesn't make it hacking.
Hacking is about learning new systems and making it your own. the electrical grid and circuitry we use daily is a system and if you go out and solder up some LEDs and make throwies then your hacking that system.
To follow the words of those who followed Mentor, if you break into computers your a cracker, if you manipulated those computers systems for good and learning your a hacker.
