This is my dog Poppy. We went to the PetLand in Medina, OH, not with the intention of buying a dog, but to familiarize ourselves with some breeds. However, after this play session with a Papillon-Bichon Frise mix, we were hooked. She is now 2 and her name is Poppy and we lover her.

Moral of the story: Stay the hell out of PetLand unless you want to fall in love with a puppy.

  • Poppy is adorable. However, be aware that puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills--unscrupulous breeders in it for the $ and often keep their dogs in very poor conditions. Good breeders never sell to pet stores. They take responsibility for the lives they create and are very picky about who they let have a pup. Pet store puppies are often high priced but very poorly bred with little regard for health, genetic problems, etc.

  • Well, we were aware of that, and we only went to the pet store so that we could interact with a variety of breeds before contacting a reputable breeder. Alas, we could not leave this little puppy behind.

  • when i was 10 and got my puppy it was a day i will never forget its amazing.. i still LOVE my puppy today... The LOVE never dies out..

  • oh so cute. i want a puppy

  • They will find ONE breeder that decided to have too many dogs, and try their best to make it look like a mill, or maybe it is, and then exploit it. They make it seem like puppy mills are then norm, when in reality they're the exception.

You guys believe everything you see on TV? War on terror? Strawberries and Cell phones cause cancer? etc.

  • you're retarded, PETLAND (the pet store i work at) has MANY AKC dogs, and we don't fucking use puppy mills. The news and press likes to turn things in to something they're not. Out of the thousands of USDA breeders that are site visited once every 6 months, the odds of one out of those thousand NOT becomming a large breeding facility (or techincally, a puppy mill) is very slim.
