Making Money From a "Picking Vacation", Christian Picker Collective Ministry and "Hiring Yourself"

My twin boys and I just got back from a 3 day "picking vacation". We call this type a "Goodwill sandwich". Basically, you pick your way there day 1, have a fun day in the middle and pick your way back the 3rd day. I pick anywhere I can. Auctions, thrift stores, garage sales, etc. But on a lot of out of town trips, I pick 100% Goodwill stores.

Our fun day was their birthday present and we had a great time! A movie, German food and freestyle motocross! We covered parts of 3 states as well and saw some neat places.

I created a business model a while back for a 2 or 3 day "picking vacation" where you can spend approx. $300 out and gross about $1,200 in sales when you get back.

This time, due to a few tasty picks, I spent $600. BUT, it should gross me about $2,000. I normally like to make a bit more times my money, but I couldn't pass on a few sure bets.

I have been picking part time for many years (over 20), but I made it my primary source of income around last spring. Since my last video, I also started a vocational discipleship ministry through the Community Church of Mooresville called the Christian Picker Collective. We help train others via mentoring how to make a good part or full time income picking and reselling.
