@slayrjj1 hey, was on the Foxcg33...we came out there cause of your brother and his comrades,,,Im so sorry, we were all so heartbroken, and wanted to whip everbodies ass over our fellow shipmates..I have never forgotten them, and those days

@2IDSGT There was a 4 show series on the LCS on National Geographic. Augmentation packages were built for slide in and out. This concept was taken from how cruise ship cabins are installed. Anything aft of the bridge and above the machinery spaces can be reconfigured modularly. Using traditional nomenclature for ship class vs mission, the LSC would ba classsified as a corvette and an under gunned one at that.
-
@Robbob9933 Augmentation for 300? Where the hell did you read that? That's almost the complement of a Burke-class. In any case, the LCS is an orphaned concept; it was supposed to be part of a larger system that included a new generation of ships (CG-X, DDG-X). That program has long since collapsed (only building 2-3 Zuwalts), and since we're stuck with Burke for the foreseeable future, a light-frigate that actually has weapons would be better.

@2IDSGT I mentioned the Laffey because the physical demensions and dispalcement are very close to LCS-1. Also as a example of what smaller ships could take and still keep fighting. The bomb hits were 1,000 lb and the Kamakazi hits were 10,000 lbs of plane, 2,000 lb bomb, with remaining fuel hitting at close to 500mph in dive. The LCS would never sail into harms way with only the base crew. Augmentation package available would take it to full DDG(ASW) with total crew close to 300.
-
@Robbob9933 The USS Laffey was a Sumner-class DD with over 300 crewmen that was designed to take 1 or 2 hits. Seeing as neither class of LCS is being required to meet normal shock testing standards, you'll have to forgive me for doubting that a tiny 40-man crew can control damage from multiple ASM hits.

@2IDSGT Most world navies consist of a couple missile patrol boats. From the recent activity in Libya to Gulf War 1 and 2, these small craft turned out to be tough buggers. One Iraqi boat took four harpoons (slower but more lethal than exocet) and would not sink. A Libyan boat took three, the third used the pop up attack mode to carry the explosive force through the hull bottom. In WWII The USS Laffey survived 4 bombs and 6 Kamakazi hits, it is ~size of LCS-1.
-
@Robbob9933 Compare the basic crew complements of the Perrys and the LCS (as in the number of actual sailors on board), then take a wild guess as to which stands the best chance of staying afloat after taking two Exocet missiles.

fuck uss start and fuck your 9/11. bunch of terrorists in persian gulf who supported saddam.

@2IDSGT The LCSs are not blue water ships and you would be suprised how much damage the small ships can take. We had destroyers in WWII that took more kamakazi hits than carriers and survive while the carrier sunk. With the Stark, not only was the design tough, so were the damage control and fire fighting teams.
Where is the Stark now? Was it repaired, and is it still in service? Thanks.

I lost my brother on the U.S.S. Stark FFG-31on that day (May 17, 1987). I will never forget!!!
My brother and three of his shipmates are buried in Arlington Cemetery in Washington D.C., Section 60:
Christopher DeAngelis, John Ciletta, Steven Erwin, Earl "Pat" Ryals.
I still miss him even after 23 years. I love you Pat.

@slayrjj1 I am so very sorry for your loss. The last couple of slides show the bed cover on my truck in their Memory.
I will never allow them to be forgotten as long as I am alive.

@BGSU39 I to remember what we went through after arriving on scene and know as tough as it was for me, it pales in comparison to your sacrifice.
