If all African Americans were applying out of state like you're implying they should, it's no wonder you don't see them in this video. In all honesty, being at Berkeley has made me STOP seeing race when I look someone in the face. And if you can't do that, you're one step behind. Admissions is based on achievement before anything else. Yes, African American students often get rejected from Cal, but guess what, other people do too.

The California Dream has been hijacked by the Dream Act. American citizens need not apply. Also, the California Dream has an asterisk because Berkeley and LA has no moral obligation to community college students and does not have the transfer admission guarantee. Not to mention that too many white/blacks go to college in non-marketable majors and act surprised with unemployment, meanwhile half of Berkeley and LA is Asian students monopolizing advance degrees and jobs. Too many intl. students!

California is also only 6% black. Maybe they didn't show any blacks because there just aren't that many in the state.

Check out UC Riverside; it is the nation's 4th most ethnically diverse research university. The US News and World Reports says nearly 40 % of UCR undergraduates are Asian, 31% Latino, 16 % white and 8 % black. That may not seem huge, but UCR was found to be one of 11 universities nationwide at which black and Latino students graduated at about the same or higher rate than white students.
