I'm not missing anything. What are commercials for? To get you to by stuff. Whether they use Jessica Simpson to get you to by a Carls Jr. burger or having sexy women wearing lingerie, its to get you to buy their products. If I buy these pants I won't be part of the rebellious group or youth,I'm just going to be the group of people that buy the pants to WEAR!! And you shouldn't have to look deep into a commercial to get a message. So in a nutshell its a pointless commercial about pants. Period!
*sigh* no no you are once again missing the point. Commercials show people who they should be, therefore they want to be these people. i.e. in this commercial it shows the rebellious youth or free youth or whatever, and subconsciously we pick up that if we wear these jeans we will be part of this rebellious youth. Once again when we consciously think about it we know this to not be true, but that is how commercials work.
It is selling the fact that we are americans and that to be this kind of america, you should buy these kind of pants. Once you buy these pants you will be this "free spirit". of course this isnt true, but that is how advertising works. they sell WHO we should be, not what we should own.
ok but they don't have to make a dumb commericial that dosen't make any sense. Ok so it shows kids playing with fireworks. how in the hell does it involve pants?

P.S. It's just a commercial.
