  • @DimmuBorgir007 well imho if u r white and can pass off as a native european u should b proud of ur heritage. afterall u r only staying true 2 urself. but from my experience spaniards r peculiar ppl. consider this, los gitano, they r whites, have lived in spain 4 god knows how long, and they r treated like mierda. i know spain is a complex place, i just dont think da as a dominican, having spanish blood is something to be overly proud of. btw my dad and uncle look straight up cartagenian.

  • @DimmuBorgir007 i agree that there is a disproportionate amount of crap in NYC, but keep in mind that dominicans in nyc live in some of poorest neighborhoods in this country and with that comes all the social ills that people living under those circumstance must face. at the same nyc dr ppl provide valuable remittances to dr which help out a whole lot. i understand that nyc dominicans do some stupid shit sometimes ( it's usually kids), but as whole i think nyc dominicans are alright.

  • Continued: I have seen a few Hispanics who look as white (or whiter) than some white Americans yet if they mention their European ancestry, or even dare be proud of it, they are scorned at. What about when a Hispanic who goes around trumpeting his or her Native or African pride and don't get shit for it? They are double standards. Let a mulatto like Tego Calderon call himself black and he is applauded, let a Caucasian like Carlos Ponce call himself white and watch the critiques flow.

  • @thomclassic1 You certainly have credibility if you have been to Spain and France. From what I'm aware of, they take kindly to white Hispanics, like most Argentinians and Uruguayans. Some are not so tolerant of people who are Native, black, and to a lesser extent, mestizo or mulatto looking people. The point was that if people immigrate to the U.S. and preserve their ancestral past, why can't a Dominican or a Puerto Rican who (hypothetically) may have Spaniard, French, Italian, etc do the same?

  • @thomclassic1 You're right to say that Americans, in general, don't care about any culture other them their own, but at least the rednecks don't tend to obsess and try to claim Dominicans as some African Americans have gone to videos and tried. I'm sure you have seen examples of this on Youtube. Yes there is garbage in the Dominican Republic, but its more proportionate over there. You have educated, good mannered people and the polar opposites. In NYC, you have a disproportionate amount of crap.

  • @DimmuBorgir007 u r right i might have been overgeneralizing because i can only speak from my bias experience. but let me tell u, i've been to spain (cartagena, cadiz , jerez, mayorca) and france (toulan, marsaille) and i've met a lot of dominicans over there and they've told me that even the blanquito dominicano are treaded in the manner i described earlier. those are the same impressions i got from them. but of course i could be wrong...

  • @DimmuBorgir007 i agree da most black americans don give a fuck about dominican's heritage. in fact i 'd go as far as saying that all americans that haven 't been exposed to a multiculture society eg rednecks have a similar atitude. so i completely agree w/ u on that. and it's true da many nyc dominicans could be an embarrassment sometimes, but keep in mind that people in dr arent angels. i dont know about the haitian thing they've been saying since before i was born.

  • Clarification note: When I said you were overgeneralizing, I mean you are generalizing that every single Frenchman or Spaniard holds that view. Also generalizing ever Dominican as if every single one was of the same descent. The majority, but not ALL, have a similar background.

  • @thomclassic1 By the way, do you think African Americans give a fuck about Dominicans and the central population's mixed raced ancestry? No, most just like to pin the average mixed Dominican as black and say that Dominicans are imitating their culture, or lack there of. To add insult to injury the country IS being overrun by Haitians. I'm sure you have heard it and it is fact. The Dominican Republic is gradually becoming unrecognizable. Plus, many Dominicans. not all, in NYC are an embarrassment

  • @thomclassic1 You are overgeneralizing, a few, not many, Dominicans are Spaniard and/or French. When you have an Italian who immigrates to the United States and retains their culture you think Italy hates them for being in the U.S? I know Spaniard Dominicans, and Puerto Ricans as well, whom are still have some of their customs intact and still look very much Spaniard.
