  • Thank you for the delightful production. First, Because Congress miswrote the law, Congress should fix its mistake by rewriting S.O.L.A.S. so that the law applies to sea-going ships only. Second, near the end of the video, we see passengers disembarking from the steamer MISSISSIPPI QUEEN. Is that because you did not have similar shots from the steamer DELTA QUEEN?

  • Bela, the passengers are actually disembarking from the DQ. I don't have much footage from the MQ, as she hasn't made a lot of stops on the Upper Mississippi in the past few years. Thanks for your interest! You are absolutely right that Congress should rewrite the provisions of SOLAS to account for vessels that never should have fallen under its jurisdiction in the first place.

  • With all the problems we have, the government pays attention to this. Let the ship sail as long as people go on it. Government should not stop capitalism.

  • You Must forward this to the Dubuque Cuty Council, and the mayor. They are wavering on providing a resolution on behalf of the Queen. Seeing that good portion of this was shot in and around the Key City, maybe when they see it with the City in the background it will hit home!

Great Job, It will be included in all my future emails!

  • @TheDustyspears At least she's safe in Chattanooga, but its not her home and does not belong as a hotel

  • @baritonebynight Actually, after some research, its not that simple that Oberstar was responsible as Majestic fired all of the union workers to replace them with people they could pass less money too. It seems to me that Majestic is mostly responsible for the destruction of this boat in the name of corporate greed.

  • Enjoyed staying a few days on the Delta Queen

  • this is what grand fathering is about

  • has any one herd an update on the delta queen is the fight still on I hope so she needs to return to the river where she belongs,,,

  • My wife and I walk by the Delta Queen all the time. She's bolted to the shore and used a hotel now. You can see her in downtown Chattanooga.

  • and fiberglass recreation boats arent flamable?

  • Save Our Ship! SOS! PLease help save the delta queen! We all want to float down the historic Mississsippi river.

  • @divisioneight Its not about safety, its about dirty politics

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 Didn't you listen? Don't make it a partisian issue. We want to get the boat back running and liberals and conservatives need to bury the hatchet on this one. Oberstar is the one responsible, plenty of democrats supported keeping the Queen running. Do you want to save the Queen or complain about liberals?
