On Sunday, June 27, 2010, I swam the Défi Monte Cristo, a 5K open water race in Marseille, France.
I did the same swim two years ago - with fins - and finished in 1h38m. This year's race was more challenging because I swam without fins and without as much training. I was also using my Liquid Image camera goggles for the first time and I swallowed too much oil-flavored water at the beginning of the race. It took me 2h13m to swim from the Chatêau d'If to the Plage de Prado, which felt kind of long but was well worth it.
I made two videos of my swim: one short artistic interpretation using music by Satie (also available on my YouTube channel) and then this longer documentary interpretation.
I have lots of ideas for improving my video next year at the Défi Monte Cristo 2011.
