Liberal vs. Conservative II: Gay Marriage

Gay marriage provides another revealing look at the way that our traditional political labels "liberal" and "conservative" do not always provide a substantive perspective on certain hot-button political issues. Perhaps it is time to redefine our political terminology or at least make some move towards educating our populace in greater depth about our political system as a part of our basic high school education.

1.) Gay marriage is a state issue according to the 10th Amendment.
2.) For more information about the expansion of inclusion across American history, please begin with the movement to do away with property qualifications for suffrage which resulted in universal white male suffrage under President Andrew Jackson and work your way forward. You will find that despite frequent setbacks, the general direction of our history tends heavily towards acceptance.
