Steven J. Ross, USC professor of history, presented a discussion titled "Hollywood Left and Right" at the USC Casden Institute for the Study of the Jewish Role in American Life on March 21, 2007. Responding to his remarks were University Professor Leo Braudy, an expert on film in American culture, and Richard Schickel, a film critic for Time magazine, documentary filmmaker and movie historian. The event was part of the Dr. Harold I. Lee Lecture Series, which was established in memory of USC alumnus Harold Lee by his son Henry, a USC alumnus. The Lee Lecture Series affords the USC Casden Institute an opportunity to bring interdisciplinary scholars, artists and others to present their work to university faculty and students and to the larger Los Angeles community.
Thanks for the upload. Good lecture, really enjoyable - and robust argument at the end of the talk.

I don't have any respect for film critics & people who 'talk about what happens" instead of making things happen. They don't create things; they just talk about things that people have created. It's like sportscasters & radio personalites. All they do is try to find conflict with anything they possibly can (even positive things) The ego is great at that, & can conflict with ANYTHING. I'm so sick of it. They make their living by TALKING about the work of other human beings?? Go AWAY!! Scram!!
