  • Holy shit, and I thought mine was bad. I get an intermittent "flash" of grey lines or white light across the screen. It doesn't scroll like this though...

  • @DGneoseeker1 Try warming up the graphics card first. Mine doesn't like to be cold while idling. The solution for me is to warm up the HD 5970 using Furmark right after booting the system. When GPU temperatures pass 55C it is absolutely rock stable. I am still very pleased with this dual-gpu monster card :)

  • I did some driver uninstall and tried several drivers, now it works properly again on Catalyst 10.8 and 10.9. Still no idea what caused this messy artifacts.

  • maybe try scissor rendering mode instead?

  • @DGneoseeker1 Update: After my installation of catalyst 11.6b, I haven't seen a flicker yet. This doesn't mean the problem is fixed, since it seems to be random.... but I'm hoping....

  • @frankknopers Hmm.

My problem seems to happen at random times even after having been on for hours. I think it does tend to happen when the card is working as "2D" though.

I've just uninstalled the GPU driver, used driver sweeper, and installed Catalyst 11.6b hotfix (which mentions something about flickering when idle in the release notes).

It hasn't flickered again since. I don't know if it's fixed yet though. It's not something that happens constantly.

  • @cliffandy No. Its the card. I get the same problem aswell.

  • That looks like a cable issue or connector; that's not the card or the monitor.
