Amadán is a Dutch/Irish band and was founded some 15 years ago in Amsterdam by Robert & Bert Pfeiffer and Mark Gilligan. Erik van Loo joined in later. Here's "Music for a found harmonium" (Simon Jeffes) from their album 'Storing on the Line'.

  • Does anyone know where I can buy this CD? I have been looking now for an hour and cannot find it on Amazon, iTunes - anywhere. This is exquisite - the best cover of this tune that I have heard. Thanks!

  • Hi Adante,

Thanks for the compliment. The album is not for sale anymore through shops etc. but there's a small collection left. Send me an email, and I might help you. Tommazz.

  • haha yes!

is this the band that originally made this song?

because it is in probably every movie ever made

  • No Thecurbstomper

The tune is made by Simon Jeffes and originally performed by the Penguin Café Orchestra for the Malcolm movie. This version is a cover by Amadán.

  • Actually, I believe the version by Patrick Street on the album Fits of Passion is the best- hands down.

  • Love this version . It is nice and mellow but still carries the respect that this tune deserves. Mind you .... I am no Musician but I know a Bloody good tune when I hear wan.

  • Duitervoorde, you were absolutely RIGHT! Their rendition of this piece of music is absolutely breathtaking! Thanks for the hint!! :)

  • Originally by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra (C and E flat), then Patrick Street (D and F) and this lot do it in E flat and F sharp?? Is that capo abuse or have they speeded it up?

  • i thought this was Patrick Street?

  • omg amazing!

  • Awesome. Just AWESOME.

  • absolutely beautiful.
