I always hear that argument but my gut feeling at very first sight is always, WHAT IS THIS. I really don't believe it has a place in the church at least not as per her description.

I disagree - the reality is that hip-hop is a large part of the culture of today's youth. What better way to reach out to people that otherwise may not hear the power of Jesus' saving grace than through a language they understand? I agree that a large portion of the hip-hop music today is full of horrible language & stories of atrocious things, but to say that all hip-hop must be avoided is to allow the enemy to claim victory over an entire genre of music/dance. MY Jesus can redeem ANYTHING!

hip hop is ok, but it's when you put all the street dances from the secular world into your dance. This is ministry! All that I saw was the basic street dances they do on t.v.

Most dance movements began in the secular (i.e. ballet, modern, tap, hip-hop, etc.). However, it is up to us, the Saints, to minister in a way that will not be misconstrued as vulgar. In other words, take the movements that will bring honor to God. Additionally, hip-hop was founded in the streets. So, it's going to have a "gutter" feel about it. Most of what is on tv (outside of So You Think You Can Dance and America's Best Dance Crew) is booty shaking which definitely doesn't give honor.
