C's first mountain bike experience with hydraulic brakes. The clerks at Northstar said get used to the rental bike. They were right. It was his idea to get a closer look at the mountain. Seriously, he actually has 1200 miles his first year on his Trek road bike. So breaking on the downhill with pavement is 2nd nature. Here he is only going on the easy stuff this first time. Hence only gloves and helmet needed. Lesson learned, wear you gloves.

  • Yes, better to biff it on the flatter part of the hill than later. This has been a PSA.

  • thats was dumb

  • i had this happen to me with regular shoe brakes and I was using front and rear brakes, but I went right over the handlebars, fortunately i landed in fairly soft grass.

  • @scubadiver75 I can Imagine how fuck up where his other brakes haha

  • Luckily his neck broke the fall

  • @clovis6000 who hasn't ever gone over the handlebars at least once? I just did it a few weeks ago after a very long hiatus from cycling. Just bought the bike and was riding it home and was going pretty fast under a freeway over pass. Accidentally grabbed a handful of the front brake and abruptly went over. Luckily I landed on my hands and feet. The bike was more damaged than I was. Live and learn or in my case I lived, then I forgot, then I had to learn again.

  • Doofus! Go back to the old brakes :)

  • wtf? lol, brakes are now bedded in.:-)

  • @off9999 lol!!

  • I'd like to laugh, but I've done this exact same thing

  • Most definitely; pull on front brake lever too much; wee... over the handlebars-LOL!
