This weeks topic: Gay Education

There are so many things that I could have talked about this week when it comes to what it was like as a gay man growing up in sonoma county and being gay...But I guess when we are talking about education today my thoughts go to my kids and how they are dealing with the challenges of having two fathers and how that will effect their years in the school System.

I want to take a minute to say thank you to the Calif. Legislature for Passing the Gay Education Bill.

If you were in a click in high school, which one was it?

Cliques....I wish...I had been a nerd...Jock...Geek...I was so shy that I just blended in with the lockers...I tried everything I could to just disappear in High School and I wasn't even good at doing that.

  • I can say that my high school time was a good experience, saying the word 'gay' was taboo, so gays never existed, therefore i never existed as a gay high school student. I learned to live as a fake straight tho, however never fit completely if you ask. However, I always tried to live a life without being identified as gay or straight... it was only between me and me... I enjoyed everything else so far

  • No slushies here, but I have been teased relentlessly and had underwear pulled over my head in gym class. As a short, overweight kid with big glasses, good grades, not good at sports, who didn’t make friends easily, played piano, and sang in choir, high school wasn't a pleasant experience. But looking back as an adult it made me a stronger individual and it made me more outgoing. What this shy kid has learned is that most of us are really more alike than different. We just don't realize it then.

  • That was so unexpected! I seriously cannot stop laughing!!

  • well, so far so good.

i'm 16 years old, and resently discovered that I'm gay,

all my friends are really cool about it. (most of them know).

But I'm still afraid that the people who aren't so accepting in my class are not gone be so easy about it. Also, my dad doesn't know... my mom did and she's cool with it as well.

So far I hadn't had any bad thing happened. I'm sure someday it will, but I always have my friends, I'm so grateful:D. Thanks for being you!

  • OMG you just got a Slushie Facial! WOW! and Great Vids thus far i just found this Channel! It is amazing!

  • XD

  • @richardb2837 LOL! I can honestly say that jay was born after his mental meltdown, he's been crazy since birth, same for bryan, thats why we love them and wouldnt have them any other way! :)

  • I'm still in High school and I realised I was gay about a year ago. I was bullied for two years by the same guy and it really hurt me badly. But, like you said in the video, it helped me to be stronger. Most of my friends now I am gay, my parents too and more and more, as the time go,I think that as we learn to accept the fact that we are different then other people and the shame go. My high school experience, in brief, was a bit hard, yes but it helped me, to be stronger. Good video by the way!

  • My friend has two moms and both his brothers are gay, and luckly he hasn't been bullied

  • LMFAOOO!!! great ending!!! NICE SHOT JAY! And i'm still in high school, and my experience so far is pretty great. My freshman year i was still in the closet and still dating girls, but i still had a great time. i made my name as "the singer", the little stepper and a cute little jokester. And i was friends with everybody. I am a sophmore now, and i am just now coming out and its going good. I'm even more known and even more successful. what was it like for jay???

  • I dropped out and got my GED at 10th grade. I was missing a lot of classes. I used to go to school in the morning, sneak out on 3rd period, then just ride the NYC train system or hang out alone at prospect and central parks with the sci-fi and fantasy books I'd get from the library.Gay was for me something to escape from.In the 80's,Aids came out, I saw Al Pacino's gay movie Cruisin, and Boy George was a Heroin addict. Gay in the Latino comm. was unmanly an evil.I was told my eyes gave me away.
