"Brutus" from Germany at Concours d'élégance Paleis Het Loo, Apeldoorn, Netherlands.

An extraordinary vehicle that was constructed in the Auto & Technik MUSEUM SINSHEIM's workshops under the project name "Brutus", is - like the Maybach special racing car - also following the tradition of the Blitzen-Benz. After WW I many aircraft engines were available since Germany was not allowed to own aircraft. These engines were installed on old undercarriages and used to perform races. An undercarriage with chaindrive of 1908 was being used as a basis for the "Brutus" project. A 12-cylinder aircraft engine with 46 liters displacement and a constant performance of 500 hp at 1500 rpm or 750 hp at 1700 rpm, that was located in Spain by our club member Hans Dittes, was mounted on top. The attraction of this vehicle is not least due to the fact that it is going to reach a speed of far beyond 100 km/h at about 800 rpm only. After several years of hard work the vehicle was completed. It already was presented in action at many events.

  • it was on top gear last week :D

  • brustus is not 750hp but 500hp

  • @blazzer5 Inaccurate tacho dial. As in previous reply, are you sure you want to torture an engine in neutral on the limiter. Engine needs load (road/dyno), not uncommon to stretch conrods on limiter in neutral resulting in valve/piston interface, smoke and a decrease in output followed by ££££. You want to believe you have seen 20000 that's fine, some people believe in ufo's, and thats fine too.

  • @blazzer5 Ok,having dyno'd more than a few of these while installing fuel maps allow me to explain. An R6 has its factory set limiter set at 16200 +/- 150, try to exceed 16400 and valve float becomes the enemy, pistons + valves meet and make a munching noise as the motor expires. On some R6's the tacho needle will read as much as 17500 at a true 16200 ish. 18000 is a long long way from 20000 in terms of mechanical valve trains, thats why motogp engines run pneumatic valves.

  • @ghoul64 /watch?v=eQyVoLC3BLw&feature=related HERE IS ANOTHER ONE DOING 18000 NO PROBLEM.

  • @ghoul64 /watch?v=7MLVYqfW3EA&feature=related THIS ONE DRIVES AT 18000 RPMS AT 290KMH... BUT 20000 ITS NOT SO FAR IN NEUTRAL xD.. I BELIEVE I HAVE SEEN IT VERY CLOSE TO THAT

  • I saw this before, in a museum in Germany

  • @blazzer5 No. 'Your' R6 is not doing 20000rpms, the rev limiter is set at 16. If it were to rev to 20000 the mean piston speed would be beyond what the engine design is capable of, and it would blow. But it would have suffered catastrophic valve failure before that so no,20000rpm has not been seen by you or anybody else on a R6. X Box 360 R6, possibly.

  • @YamahaDTuning the 27 litre rolls royce merlin spitfire engined bugatti made in england is way better mate

  • @JulianoRamirez Hes talking out of his ass. All he got is a moped.
