@blaiserfilms and you were right, it's a moment without gravity, one of the scientists even warm kris sometime before. obviously this is a heavily allegoric scene, to be interpreted.
-
@TheSunmanho really? because this has been bugging me for a while! i thought it was some anti gravity thing which really confused me as to why only selected objects were floating. ill watch it again with this in mind, thanks!

yes because it's a hallucination

An example of the lyrics of Arseny Tarkovsky, the father of Andrei Tarkovsky...'The summer has passed'.
Sorry if the translation is somewhat different from the standard versions... With the great respect for these extremely talented people...
-
Well, the summer has passed, As if never it were, The straight sunlight gives warmth, And I can’t get enough. All that might have come true, As the leaf, penta-palmate, Have lain down in hands, And I can’t get enough. Neither evil nor goodness, Have vanished in vain, All flamed light, And I can’t get enough.
-
Wing of life was the shield,
With its saving and care,
The truth is I was lucky,
And I can’t get enough.
The leaves haven’t been scorched,
The trees’ boughs, not broken,
The day, washed as if glass,
And I can’t get enough.
Thanks for this in clean 2:1 original cinema-scope that honors Tarkovskij's original format for this masterpiece. This film is an in depth consideration about "subjective" appearance (reality as projected from the mind, who's mind?). The voices of Hari and Kris are slightly removed from the body as intended in this poetic vision where cinema is brought to its highest as a true art form. We can see all of Tarkovskij's films over and over and still always new territory for the heart and mind.
