This individual asked me if I was interested in doing a side job on an Acura Legend. The engine exhibited classic over heating problem that these Acura Legends are well known for. This vehicle had right at 140,000 miles on it. Doing a head gasket on this vehicle is not all that difficult, but you need time and patients with this vehicle. The Acura dealership would probably charge about $1700.00 to do this complete job. I charged this individual $700.00 to do this job. This includes machining the heads, and a new upper end gasket kit. Enjoy the video!

  • I had 92 acura legend ls and think it the same one. I got overheating and got white smoke some one said must be head gasket and going to cost me a lot. he said I better sale my car to the junk yard and find other one better then fix head gasket is that true? please advise Thanks

  • @MasterFu It all comes done to whether or not you want to spend the money to fix the car. Take into consideration the milage, age, and condition of the vehicle. Remember this repair is going to set you back at least $1200. I would probably just take the money and spend it on another vehicle.

  • how long does the job take?

  • @Lavahgo I can do one of these HG jobs in about 12hrs. There is alot of labor involvedin this job. If your a beginner, and don't have air tools and are encountering rusted bolts it could take you about 24hr to 30hrs to do.

  • 240.000 miles on my 92 legend , just now replacing head gasket, any brand name to go with or all about the same.

  • @oneandonly478 Just goes to show you how bullet proof these engines are in the Legends besides the problems with the head gaskets. I ordered my gaskets off of Ebay and they were about $60 shipped. Good quality gaskets, and have never had a problem with any. This is the guy I ordered them from, is user ID is mizumoauto. I've ordered alot of parts from this place, and never had any problems with any of the parts, and the quality of the parts. Good Luck!

  • @civicboy123 Thanks for the advised, I just found that the fan doesn't work maybe I try to fix the fan first if I'm lucky can get this car to run with out over heating for other 6 month I should save enough money to get a better one. Thanks bro.

  • did you use a special tool to lock the cams in order to put the timing belt on, if you did, which tool was???/

  • You like the cali...head gaskets more than the Cometic gaskets

  • I did this job on a 95 and replaced timing belt, it fired right up but ran bit shaky so for the heck of it rechecked the timing and realized I was off 1 tooth on the crank. I reset the timing it and now it runs horrible and misfires. Any suggestions?

  • I couldn't understand what yo were saying about the "pressure bleeding to the resvoire" !?

Could somebody explain what happens when a head gasket is failing?

    Thanks
