Clydebank Through A Lens: Recreation, entertainment and leisure: Café culture [excerpt]

A warm and nostalgic film looking at Clydebank from the 1960s to '80s, with interviews from people who lived in the town — together with six minutes of remarkable previously unseen archive footage from 1975, and photos by local photographer, Owen McGuigan.

Produced, directed and narrated by Iain McGuinness.

The director asserts the moral right to be identified as the director of this work.

  • I grew up in Clydebank and my dad who was a policeman in Clydebank in the 60's and 70's used to talk about being on Points Duty when the yards came out.1000's of people all leaving work at the same time.I remember being a bit scared as a kid at the numbers of people all running out the yard gates.

  • @PURPLEBEATTIE1 Exactly! When you consider that most of the town's population worked in either the yard or Singer's, going home time would've involved a sea of people.
