The Heathkit EC-1 analog computer was one of the first "desktop" computers produced. The first illustrative exercise in the manual is titled "The Falling Body Problem." Bob, Mike, and Dan helped me test the tubes, clean contacts, and repair a few solder joints. There was a loose wire. We also discovered that malfunctioning N-2H neon lamps were preventing the proper calibration of amplifier 4 because they're part of the circuit. Fortunately I had 2 on hand...Bob instructed us how to interpret the wiring diagrams and patch in the program/solution.
