The Wynental & Suhrental railway has for more than a century served the villages along the valleys of the Wyna and Suhre rivers.
What is today a modern narrow-gauge commuter railway started life as a rural tramway. Over the years, the once numerous street-running sections were eliminated and realigned until finally, only the section between Aarau and Suhr remained.
The new alignment for this section was completed in late 2010, permitting the street-running track to be abandoned.
This footage was taken in October 2009, when the old line had a bit more than a year left to run.
