New President of Madagascar

Andry Rajoelina will be sworn in as the new president of Madagascar on Saturday, March 21st.

Although hes six years too young to be president under the constitution, Rajoelina will head a transitional government for the next two years endorsed by the Constitutional Court.

"I am running the country for 24 months. That has been laid down by the law."

Rajoelina says his priorities are anti-poverty programs:

It is necessary to lower the prices of all the basic products in Madagascar."

And controlling some dissent in the armed forces:

[Andry Rajoelina, President of Madagascar]:
"It's important for life to return back to normal, it's important to, first of all, take a close look at the security and particularly the people involved."

President Ravalomanana resigned on Tuesday after most of the military backed Rajoelina ascent to power.

Yes of course I know that. But, I swear, it's a general feeling. But I think it's more cultural. Madagascan culture has actually nothing to do with most african ones but more with asian ones... And of course, please note that I'm not judging. I respect every culture.
